CAUGHT IN BETWEEN 2 WORLDS 🌎
You know when artists of old say "quit your job and focus on creating art" ...
As sweet and inspiring as this sound, its doesn’t apply to a struggling Nigerian artists ;an artist who has no money, no financial support , an artist whose only way of expressing herself is through her art and her voice. Having her hear the “quit your job” advice can be really scary for her and let’s face reality an artist needs to eat right ? She has bills to pay life won’t stop coming at her just because she has found herself as an artist, life would be “ lifing”either ways .
if you are a struggling African artist like "Her", who has only her voice to lean on don’t quit!!! your day job stay on it.
The stuggling artist currently knows how hard it is to constantly struggle between loosing herself and appearing "beige" and that is one of the hardest thing an artist has to deal with.
the idea of feeling stuck , normal and colourless scares the shit out of her, Because how can she be "seen" if she doesn’t shine brightly but she is saying to all of us today "please stay, hold on just a little longer, I don’t know if it would get better but the fact we don’t know should been an even greater reason to try"
Most times the stuggling artist finds herself expressing her subconscious through her dressing, just a subtle way of reminding herself of who and what she is, the subtle reminder to stay on her journey even through the chaos and distractions of life.
Sometimes she also spends most of her free time at work in silence, just reading art, studying art, creating art.
The struggling artist doesn’t joke with moments like this because those moments represent spaces where she gets to chanel and nourish her creative spirit even if it’s just for 30mins.

she know it’s not enough but she doesn’t stop trying to find time For her soul, she keeps fighting to feed her soul even when there is no plausible reward in sights she still continues to feed "HER"
The struggling artist is ME, and If she is you too, I hope you see a bit of yourself in her , I hope through her you get to find the balance

" between your 2 worlds ".
