“STANDING OUT" can be lonely..
STAND OUT!, BE YOU!, BE YOURSELF! these beautiful words however cliche they sound are nice and inspiring .
Infact they are so good and catchy that most brands and advertising firms use it as a tagline or catch phrase for most of their product which in my opinion is good PR especially in this Gen-Z era.
But let’s face it being different is not as easy as it sounds.
When you choose a path that is different from the norm, the likelihood that you will be mistaken for a crazy person is very high, especially if you are still in the "figuring it out phase."
To support my point, biologists and numerous evolution theorists have demonstrated that we humans tend to exhibit "herd animals behavior," which means that we can only survive in well-organized groups.
. So the day you decide you want to follow your own path, believe me when I say that the first obstacle would be your genetic makeup trying to imagine how things would actually play out if you choose to do so, how people would see you, look at you, or react to your "new found path," the friends you might lose, and believe me when I say that all of these things you fear would most likely happen and would come to prove my point that "standing out" can be pretty lonely.
On the plus side, being different can also be liberating, fufilling and give way to discovering your purpose and all the beauty it’s brings.but just sticking to just the positive side without acknowledging the downsides won’t be a true and complete story am I right ?
That is why I decided to share my own struggles on the journey to being ME because I relate, infact I face my own daily dose of self doubt and fear and with the help of journaling and the comfort and love of my amazing friends I have been able to deal with the pressures and fears a little bit, and hopefully someone reads this and feels less alone on their respective journey to their desired path.
