Tech:I hope our savior doesn’t end us.
I sincerely hope that technology, which liberated us and provided us with opportunities to do and achieve great things, does not kill us. In today’s age and time, everything is happening really fast, so fast that we sometimes forget to take a pause and observe the impact technology has had on us as an individual and a community. The almighty tech bros and tech innovators directly or indirectly also take part in this ruin; everyone wants to offer a sense of ingenuity or originality in the tech space without actually thinking of how it would make or mar society in the long run, all so they can make money and a name for themselves in the tech space.
The other day I was going through an Instagram post from a lady in my field, of interest; storytelling photography and visual art. she talked about how this recent AI (artificial intelligence) advancement has been a stretch, thereby making the efforts of artists who worked tirelessly to express themselves through diverse art mediums futile. It feels like trying to say, "Why work so hard? Why put your sweat, tears, and blood into your work when tech could just run a few simulations on a few AI algorithms and get something that looks similar but feels different?"
Better still, let’s not even delve into how these so-called tech advancements and innovations have reduced human interaction to the barest minimum; they sell us ease and comfort at the expense of genuine human connection, and honestly, I don’t blame us for adapting them into our lives. Who wouldn’t want to work less and earn more? But while we bask in the joys and the benefits that technology has brought, we shouldn’t lose ourselves so much that we forget important things like walks in the park, gatherings and eventswith family and friends.
I feel like, apart from being a storyteller, photographer, and visual artist, I would also want to be on the advisory board for a tech-innovative company; someone that could act as a voice for the creation of more development that encourages genuine human connection over profit and capitalism.
